People ask what a summer-goods shop does in February. The honest answer is: most of the work. Here is roughly how a day goes at Shoreano, from a small office in Tallinn.
Morning: what shipped, what did not
The day starts with yesterday’s orders. Everything that cleared payment overnight gets picked and labelled first, because a parcel that misses the morning collection loses a full day at the other end.
Then the exceptions: an address that will not validate, a parcel a carrier has flagged, a customer who ordered a lounger and a beach chair and would rather have both arrive together. Most of these take one email to sort out. We aim to have all of them answered before lunch.
Midday: choosing what to stock
We are a curator, not a manufacturer — which means our real product is the selection. A float has to survive a season of chlorine and sun, pack down small enough to post affordably, and still look like something you want in your photos.
Plenty of things fail that test. A shade that fades in six weeks, a valve that leaks after the third inflation, a print that looks nothing like the sample. Those never make it onto the site, and the ones that do get their dimensions, weights and materials written up properly.
Afternoon: the questions
The questions we get are more practical than you might expect. Will this vest fit an eighteen-kilo four-year-old. Does the lounger fold flat enough for a hatchback. Can the underwater camera go in salt water.
We would rather answer those before you order than process a return afterwards, so ask us anything — the contact form reaches a person, and we reply within a working day.
Why it matters in February
Because when the first warm weekend arrives, nobody wants to wait. The whole point of the quiet months is that the summer ones look effortless.
